Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning Sokoto

The Sokoto State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability through strengthened Public Financial Management (PFM) practices.

Today at the opening of a two-day training workshop in Abuja on the updated National Chart of Accounts (NCoA), budget performance reporting, and state financial accounts, the Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Abubakar Muhammad Zayyana, underscored the importance of aligning with national and international standards such as IPSAS and NCoA to enhance effective budgeting and reporting systems.

The trainingโ€”organized by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planningโ€”is part of broader reforms under the administration of Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, aimed at institutionalizing inclusive, data-driven, and result-oriented budgeting processes.

Dr. Zayyana assured that the government remains committed to building the capacity of MDAs to enhance service delivery and ensure equitable resource distribution across the state.

Also in attendance were:

– Hajiya Maryam Ahmed Barade, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning

– Sani Muhammad Tambuwal, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance

– Aminu Ibrahim, Deputy Clerk, Sokoto State House of Assembly

Alongside directors, technical staff, and representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Sokoto State House of Assembly, State Audit Department, and other relevant MDAs.

In her remarks, Hajiya Maryam Barade highlighted the significance of the training as a foundation for improving governance and public service delivery. The Commissioner further urged all participants to engage fully, as their roles are pivotal to achieving sustainable and accountable development outcomes in Sokoto State.
